Duke Energy has continually failed to live up to the enormous costs we pay, delivering less than what residents deserve.

HURRICANES

Widespread outages during hurricane Milton were heightened due Duke’s lack of storm hardening measures and preparedness. Even simple structures, such as the Duke Energy website outages map, were overloaded during this time and failed to report accurately to residents.

At the same time Winter Park, FL had only 2% power loss due to their investment to bury powerlines.

RENEWABLE ENERGY GOALS

The city of St. Petersburg has adopted a goal to use 100% renewable electricity by 2035. Duke Energy has repeatedly failed to provide data and accurate reporting. The city is unlikely to meet these goals with the current arrangement with Duke Energy.

Since 2000, Duke Energy and its subsidiaries have amassed over 100 violations, totaling more than $3 billion in penalties. This includes over $2.5 billion for environment-related offenses, over $340 million for anti-competitive practices, and over $1 million for safety violations.
